Hi John, read your problems with not being able to see the focuspionts with the K3 III. Just push the AF-mode button and you will see the active piont (on my K1/ K3 ii). I’m not a Dpreview member so perhaps you can post this solution there.
Kind regards,
Jan

Thanks for your note Jan. Unfortunately this does not work with the K3iii as the active focus points do not light up unlike earlier bodies.

Instead there’s a very brief flash of red light across the finder and this is supposed to light up the grey marks where the focus point is. Those grey marks are very hard to see in poor light and the system is almost unusable so you have to just trust the camera’s AF and hope for the best.

I understand Nikon used a similar system in some of their bodies as having large numbers of focus points that individually light up is very tricky…. And it’s an example of where good mirrorless cameras can offer a better experience than OVF.

The K3iii is still a great camera especially for outdoor use, but for me this has turned out to be an unexpected and significant niggle that has restricted my use of the camera – which irritates given its high purchase cost.

Best wishes,

Jon
